About Tom Barnes
Cumbrian born chef Tom Barnes, apprenticed under Duncan Collinge at The Lakeside Hotel, and has worked in multi Michelin starred kitchens for the majority of his career.
Returning to his home in the Lake District to join Simon Rogan's team at L'Enclume in 2011 he quickly climbed the ranks from chef de partie to head chef in 2013, the year in which the restaurant won its second Michelin star.
Awarded the Roux Scholarship in 2014 at the age of 25, Tom chose Hof Van Cleve in Kruishoutem, Belgium as his prize stage followed by a stint at three-Michelin starred Restaurant Geranium in Copenhagen, under chef Rasmus Kofoed.
He returned in early 2018 as head chef at Simon Rogan's neighbourhood Cartmel restaurant Rogan & Co. The restaurant was awarded its first Michelin star less than six months later.
In 2020, he was invited to compete in the 15th series of BBC2's Great British Menu, where he won the main course at the final banquet.
Tom went on to support the Umbel Restaurant Group as executive chef, overseeing three Michelin-starred L'Enclume, one Michelin-starred Rogan & Co, Henrock and Home by Simon Rogan.
Tom has travelled extensively, creating popup events and experiences at events and restaurants such as Royal Ascot, Hywel Griffith’s Beach House in Wales, Roberta Hall McCarron’s The Little Chartroom in Scotland and Andreas Antona's Simpsons in Birmingham as well as at festivals such as Wilderness and The Big Feastival.
He will open his first solo restaurant, Skof, in Manchester in Spring 2024.
Our reservations diary is currently open until Saturday 14th September 2024, and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Any reservations beyond this date will be released on a monthly basis, and will be announced via our newsletter and social media channels. All reservations require prepayment at the time of booking, which is subject to our 72 hours cancellation policy. If the date you’re looking for is already fully booked, please add yourself to our standby list. Our reservations team will contact you if any tables become available.

Skof has a step-free entrance and wheelchair accessible toilets. We are also able to print our menus in larger fonts. Please get in touch with us if you have any queries about accessibility.
We are very good at catering for most health or allergy-related dietary requirements; all we require is advance notice. Please inform us of any dietary requests when making your reservation, so we can prepare everything for your arrival. It may not be possible to accommodate requests made on the day.
For lunch and dinner, we offer two menus that showcase Tom’s cooking: a 12-course menu for £120, and a 15-course menu for £165.
At lunchtime, a quicker four-course lunch menu option is also available for £50 (Thursday to Saturday).
We also offer wine, mixed drinks and alcohol free pairings for our guests to choose from.

At the time of booking, we will request a prepayment of £50 for lunch or £120 for dinner, which will be redeemed against the total of your final bill. If joining us for lunch, you may still opt for our short or long tasting menu, and at dinner, choose our long tasting menu.
A discretionary service charge of 12.5% will be added to your total bill, inclusive of the prepayment.
Cancelling your reservation less than 72 hours before your visit will result in the loss of your prepayment. Our reservations team will attempt to re-sell your table to another party, and if successful, a full refund will be issued.

We welcome children over the age of six at lunchtime and over the age of 12 for dinner. We offer our usual menus at both lunch and dinner, as unfortunately, we do not have a children’s menu available.
There is no dress code at Skof. We welcome everyone as they are.
We are unable to accommodate dogs in our restaurant.
Public Transport: For Train, MET or Bus Manchester Victoria and Shudehill are both a two minute walk from Skof.
Parking: There are two large multi-storey car parks within a four minute walk of Skof, Manchester Printworks Car Park and RCP Parking on Riga St.
